Decor

To begin with, the decor of St. Nicholas Church is a perfect example of the Baroque architect. Once you enter the church, the interior unfolds itself, which is more pretty than the exterior by all means. The opulent embellishment adds galore to the building. Furthermore, the ceiling of this church is worth mentioning as it is one of the best pieces of frescoes in Europe. The light and dark contrast inside the church have been played with very artistically, and they enhance the grace of the church overall.

The Snooping Monk

The ceiling of St. Nicholas Church is very famous due to the story of the snooping monk. It is said that the artist who was painting the ceiling of this church, requested that nobody would be allowed to work with him and people would only get to see the final piece of his work. However, one day, a monk was spotted by the artists, snooping on his work. As a punishment, the artist included him in this fresco. Therefore, when people visit this place, they try to find the snooping monk on the ceiling, and you must give it a try too. It is fun!
